Wild Rides

July 14th, 2011 by lisam

Summer’s here in full force – and it’s time to get outside! What better way to catch a cooling breeze than to go for a ride on one of our push powered ride-on’s for kids.

First up, there’s the new BIT bike. With wide wheels for extra balance, and an ergonomic handle, this is the perfect way to help your tiny ones take their first steps into the world of wheels.

Leading the pack for Summer fun this year are the Maxi and Mini Kick Scooters – we’ve seen them all over the city, with kids big and small zooming around the parks to their heart’s delight. Made with reinforced fiberglass, these three wheeled beauties are both durable and lightweight. Their ‘lean and steer’ mechanism allows sweet turns and the ‘spoon’ brake and double rear wheels provide stability and performance.

Wooden Treasures

July 7th, 2011 by lisam

Nothing quite matches the natural beauty of wood, and here at Kol Kid, we have wooden creations to delight and surprize.

Born in 1923, Kristian Vedel was an integral part of the Scandinavian Design movement – and the Architect Bird is part of his legacy.  Their bodies can be turned upside down to create male or female birds, and by  placing the head on the body at any angle you desire, the birds’ expressions and moods seem to change. Coming in two different sizes and colors, the Architect bird is a lovely companion to your every day life.

A charmer for the hands, eyes and ears, The Mozartkugel is a deliciously smooth wooden orb. Wind it’s clockwork key and as is by magic, listen to the calming and delightful “Voi che sapete” from Mozarts wedding of Figaro. The Mozartkugel makes a beautiful newborn gift – not only does it play the perfect lullaby for baby, but it’s a beautiful object for Mum and dad to display.

Saddle-up young eco-lovers! The Tori rocking horse by plan  is made from end-of-life rubber wood that would otherwise have been burned into charcoal. The beautifully simple design provides hours of rocking fun while helping to hone balance and coordination, and folds flat for easy storage. Everyone wins with the Tori!

Gorillas, Elephants and Bears, oh my! With powerful hardwood frames that can hold many poses, elastic-band muscles and durable wood limbs that make them almost impervious to breakage, this range of gorgeous wooden beasts are a stunning addition to any household. Enduring classics that will withstand generations of play.

Robot toys are usually made of plastic and require batteries – but not this one!! Made from durable wood, the Cubebot is a non-traditional take on the toy robot. This pose-able guy folds into  a perfect cube – but he really loves to dance and is especially good at – you guessed it – the robot!
